ATTENTION HOME OWNERS! If your aluminum or vinyl siding is starting to fade or look dingy, or if you just don’t like the color; WE HAVE THE SOLUTION!

It is not widely known how affordable re-painting your siding versus replacing actually is. Check out the numbers below:

CALCULATIONS BASED ON CURRENT PRICING FOR ZIP CODE 17403 FOR ~1500 sqft OF SIDING:

$3,000-6,000 – Cost to RE-PAINT aluminum/vinyl siding ($2-4/sqft) (INCLUDES painting soffit/fascia/gutters/spouts)* Includes re-painting the siding, soffit/fascia, gutters/down-spouts, and window/door frames* Expected life span 10-20 years.* Color fading to start at around 10 years

$13,500-22,500 – Cost to REPLACE ALUMINUM siding ($9-15/sqft)* Siding Only* Expected life span 20-40 years.– Can be extended to 100 years if repainted every 10-20 years once fading starts.* Color fading to start at around 15 years

$10,500-18,000 – Cost to REPLACE VINYL siding ($7-12/sqft)* Siding Only* Expected life span 20-40 years.– Can be extended to 100 years if repainted every 10-20 years once fading starts.* Color fading to start at around 15 years

To Conclude, re-painting is at most 25% the cost to replace aluminum siding. If you’re like me and want to know what the yearly maintenance cost is, see below:

Paint Average: $4500 / 20 years = $225/year

Alum average: $18000 / 40 years = $450/year

Vinyl Average: $14250 / 40 years = $356/year

If you wait out the full life expectancy of your siding before you ‘take action’, your overall yearly maintenance cost of repainting will be 50% of the cost to replace with new.

1 FINAL NOTE!!! : Keep in mind that construction material costs are steadily on the climb, this includes paint. However, material costs for painting only account for about 20% of the total cost of the project where the material cost when replacing your siding accounts for about 50% of the total job cost. This means that the cost effectiveness of re-painting versus replacing with new will only grow in the future.
